Ladies and gentlemen, How are you?
Well I'm publishing the interview that I made the last week.
My interviewee was Carola Cofre, she is an English Teacher, and she is working in Bulnes.
Her life is interesting, and I chose her story because It's very similar that I'm living now.
ok, let's read the interview!
1- Did you always know that you wanted to study English? Why?
I wanted to become a teacher since I was very young, because my mother was a teacher as well.
I just entered the English Teaching Program, because I knew I had the skills to learn this language. I was very good at english when I was in school.
2- Did your family support your decision from the beginning?
My family wasn't very excited when I told them, I was applying for the English Teaching Program because they thought I wasn't going to be able to make it, but I was really determined to reach my goals and become a teacher.
3- While you were studying, Did you ever regret the decision you made? When?
Of course! The first day of classes. I entered the room and one of the teachers came in. She introduced herself and started talking in English. I had had English classes in the school, but nothing compared to what I was hearing. I was petrified and I didn't understand anything she said.
I remember that when I got home that day I couldn't stop crying and saying that I never wanted to come back again.
4- Were you ever afraid of not finishing your studies at some point?
I remember that my sisters were also studying in Concepcion when I entered the University, so It was very difficult for my parents to pay for my studies. I got a 50% of financial aid, and I really thought I wasn't going to be able to continue. But thanks God, I got a full scholarship that paid the monthly installments for five years.
5- What Did you feel when you got your Bachelor degree?
I felt a lot of things: I was really happy, because I felt that I had fulfilled one of my goals in life. But at the same time I was a little sad, because I was going to miss my teachers, classmates and friends.
Besides, I was really excited about the idea of starting working and teaching.
6- Do you thing that finding a job right after finishing your studies was just good luck or a blessing for your life?
I guess that the Lord has a plan for all of us, so I never thought that I was lucky.
I think that there was a reason to enter this program, to finish it, to be where I am, and for all of the things that may come to my life. I am where I am for a purpose and that is what gives me the strength to continue and enjoy the things that the Lord puts in my way.
7- What Did you do when you got your first salary?
I remember that I went shopping and bought a lot of formal clothes because I was used to wearing jeans, sneakers and t-shirts, and I really needed another kind of clothes to work.
8- Do you have any goals you want to achieve? Which ones?
I would really like going abroad, visiting other countries. I think that this language really allows you to develop other skills and gives you the chance to know other cultures.
9- What advice can you give me according to the stage I am in?
I think that I can only tell you to do the best you can, and put all your efforts to teach students with love and patience. Take all the good things from every experience you can get, and remember that these people are not only getting information from you, but they're also learning all the values you teach them.
And remember that they will always see you as model and you have to be an example for all of them.
Enjoy it!
